Which Social Media Network should your Business use?
Which Social Media Platform is Right for You and Your Business?
Many factors go into deciding which social media platform is best for you. I am always telling clients – you need to think and plan before you start or you can waste a lot of time and effort. Some things to consider are:
- Who are you targeting? If you are targeting businesses, LinkedIn might be the best place to start. Are you reaching out to consumers? If so, Twitter or Facebook may work better for you. Do some research and see if you can find your market online – what networks are they on AND participating on?
- Your personality. Are you more inclined to post small snippets of content such as a 140 word post? Or are you more comfortable posting answers to specific questions? This can really be important as your personality may fit better with one network over another.
- How personal you want to be. The multitude of different applications offered by Facebook, and to a lesser degree Twitter, allows you to be very personal including posting pictures as well as other graphics. Linked In is less so and more viewed as the always-got-to-be professional and not as personal as Facebook or Titter
- Level of interaction you desire. Do you want to engage your network in polls? Invite guests to events? Or share photos and receive comments and feedback? Facebook allows for much more back and forth – but along with that comes the requirement for your business to participate in this back and forth.
