As of February 26, 2020, the Philippine government has issued temporary travel ban for passengers from or to China, Hong Kong, Macau and South Korea. This is in line with the increasing cases of COVID-19 in these countries. For easy reference, below is an infographic issued by Immigration Helpline PH’s Facebook Page.
PUBLIC ADVISORY
Temporary Travel Ban on the People’s Republic of China and its Special Administrative Regions (Hong Kong and Macau) and South Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu and Cheongdo
Please be guided accordingly.
In compliance with the directives from Malacañan, as recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease.
CHINA
Ban on arriving passengers: All foreign nationals with the following exemptions:
- Filipinos and their spouse or children.
- Foreigners with Philippine permanent resident visas.
- Members of the diplomatic corps.
Ban on departing passengers: All Filipinos.
Transiting passengers: Not allowed.
HONG KONG AND MACAU
Ban on arriving passenger: All foreign nationals with the following exemptions:
- Filipinos and their spouse or children.
- Foreigners with Philippine permanent resident visas.
- Members of the diplomatic corps.
Ban on departing passengers: All Filipinos. Except: Filipinos holding permanent resident visas, student visas, or work visas in Hong Kong or Macau.
Transiting passengers: Not allowed.
SOUTH KOREA
Ban on arriving passenger: All foreign nationals coming from North Gyeongsang province, Daegu and Cheongdo with the following exemptions:
- Filipinos and their spouse or children.
- Foreigners with Philippine permanent resident visas.
- Members of the diplomatic corps.
Ban on departing passengers: All Filipinos. Except: Filipinos holding permanent resident visas, student visas, or work visas in South Korea.
Transiting passengers: Allowed as long as does not transit through North Gyeongsang province, Daegu and Cheongdo.
UPDATE:
As of March 3, 2020, the Philippine government has partially lifted the coronavirus travel ban to South Korea. “Travelers from the Philippines can once again visit South Korea except North Gyeongsang Province, which has seen a spike in the number of novel coronavirus cases”, Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo confirmed last Tuesday.
In recent news, the Philippine government is also considering to issue a temporary travel ban to/from Japan. This is not yet confirm as of posting time.
